Tom Hoover
Tom Hoover is a former NBA center who played with multiple teams during his eight-year career, including the New York Knicks, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the St. Louis Hawks. During that time, the Villanova graduate also spent time with the American Basketball Association, playing with the Denver Rockets, the Houston Mavericks, the Minnesota Pipers, and the New York Nets.
Following his basketball career, Hoover has worked in a variety of industries. He first ran an employment program for teens in New York along with former NFL player Lane Howell. Hoover then switched to the entertainment industry. He worked as a road manager for Richard Pryor, The Spinners, and Natalie Cole. He later took a position with the New York State Athletic Commission and ran the Adopt-a-School Program in New York City.
Like all other challenges in life, hearing loss is something you can choose to overcome. I was honored to help celebrate Joshua McGriff as a HearStrong Champion and play a role in changing the way people view hearing loss and hearing devices—especially after learning how his devices allowed him to play basketball, the sport he loves.
Joshua McGriff is honored as a HearStrong Champion at the 2013 EarQ Compliance Update and Oticon Product Training Event in Somerset, NJ on September 27th by Albert King and ambassador Tom Hoover.
